I have a 5-month old grandson that is just starting to enjoy baby foods, but it won't be long before he moves on to table foods. I always started my children with soft mashed vegetables and non-acidic fruits. Mashing these by hand, and then trying to feed them to a squiggly, squirming toddler is no easy job. Most of the food is lost to their clothing, especially because they want to hold the food and feed themselves.
With this silicone feeder pacifier, they can feed themselves. I can still prepare the fruits and veggies as before, then just load them inside the pacifier, and let them have their autonomy while feeding themselves. Is it messy still? Yes, at first, until they figure it out.
All they have to do to get the food out of the pacifier is to chew or gum on it, and the food becomes mushy enough to pass through the holes. Not a lot of work for them, but much more enjoyable. I like to put the fruit in the freezer to slightly freeze before loading in the pacifier, if they are teething. This soothes their little gums, while satisfying their hunger.
The pacifier is easy to take apart and clean. I just load the pieces in the silverware holder in the dishwasher. It's ready for it's next use. The pacifier can be used for almost any age toddler, as long as they are able to hold it, and can sit up properly, to prevent choking.
