We live in West Texas, and bugs (flying, stinging, biting, and jumping) are a part of life. Sometimes it's hard to go outside for even 10 minutes without being bit by something. I really hate that my grand babies can't play outside in the evenings because of the bugs. I worry especially about the Zika virus, being spread by mosquitoes.
I was offered a chance to review the Eliminator electric bug and fly zapper, and I am glad I took the offer. The bug zapper has been a godsend lately.
My husband hangs the buglight from the by its attached chain, then runs an extension cord to it. Almost instantly, you here it start crackling as it's killing the bugs it attracts.
The violet lights attract a multitude of bugs, and NONE of them survive the electrified metal grid. At the end of the evening, I take the bottom tray off and empty all the dead bugs out.
We had been having a problem with fleas in our dog's room, so I put the zapper in there for a few days, and killed quite a few fleas. Hopefully, they are all gone now. The light didn't bother my Chihuahuas either.
The zapper can be easily mounted to a wall, but we chose not to, because we like the portability of it. If we go camping, we can take it with us. We can use it inside or outside (as long as the weather is dry).
I would recommend keeping the bug zapper out of the reach of small children. They may not like the shocking surprise.
