My husband is always tinkering in his shop, building this, and taking apart that, or fixing something else. There have been several times that he has had to borrow a torch from a friend to fix whatever he was working on. When I saw an opportunity to review the Mantello Butane Torch, I asked if he would like to try it, and he said "yes".
The torch arrived quickly. A butane tank is NOT included with this purchase, and needs to be purchased separately. The butane tank is easy to install in the torch, and there is a window on the side of the torch that shows you how much butane you still have left.
To use the torch, simply push the button, while you put a match or lighter in front of it to light the butane. Now you're ready to go. The torch can be used in the kitchen to brulee meringue (although I doubt I EVER get to try it out, hubby has already taken it to his workshop). It can be used to sweat pipes together, for soldering, and a variety of other uses. The flame is a whopping 2500 degrees F, so do NOT get your hand (or any other body part) in the way of the flame. If you have long hair, tie it out of the way to prevent it from accidentally catching fire.
My husband liked that a tabletop stand was include with the torch. He says this is the way it should be stored, especially while it is cooling. The torch is small enough to be carried with you for other projects. All in all, a good purchase.
